November 23, 2010 ALBANY, GA. — The Albany Panthers, in conjunction with the Albany Recreation and Parks Department have announced on Tuesday, November 23 that the organization has officially launched the Youth Indoor Football League, beginning this spring. The Youth Indoor Football League is open for children ages 6-12 years old.
“We’re proud to be part of the Youth Indoor Football League and promote the game that captures our imagination like no other sport,” said Will Carter, General Manager of the Albany Panthers. “Football teaches the value of leadership, responsibility and teamwork. These are the same qualities that more than three million youngsters attain each year by playing this game.”
The Youth Indoor Football League registration will be held Saturday, January 22, from 9:00 am – 5:00 pm at the Civic Center and Saturday, February 5, 9:00 am – 5:00 pm at the Albany Recreation & Parks Office 1301 N. Monroe Street. The registration fee is $35 per child.
“All of us at the Recreation and Parks department are thrilled to be working so closely with the Panthers, especially since youth football is so popular in Albany,” said Suzanne Davis, Director, Albany Recreation and Parks Department. “Many Albany Panther players began their careers in youth league football, so the relationship is a natural one for them, and it's a huge thrill for our little league players to meet and interact with the SIFL (Southern Indoor Football League) players."
In addition to other efforts, the Albany Panthers team will offer one free season ticket to each of the participants in the Youth Indoor Football league.
